It’s the end of November, almost Thanksgiving Day, and I’m counting my blessings.
My Christmas tree is up, and the lights are on, but I’m waiting until after our Thanksgiving meal before I add the ornaments.
I’m grateful the love and faithfulness of friends.
I can’t be more thankful for the life I’m living. A life that was changed forever when I met the Savior, Jesus Christ.
That day turned acquaintances into family.

In my future newsletters I give some insight into my novels. Beginning with my first mystery.
It’s a cozy mystery that focuses on characters who may be a bit weird, but who are authentic and lovable.

Why did I choose Heart Strings as a title?
Heartstrings: the deepest feelings; the strongest affections
A Bible verse I've always tried to keep in mind is,
"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Matthew 6:21 ESV
The two important words, of course, are treasure and heart.
Treasure is something that holds a place of value. Not necessarily precious gems, gold, or money.
It may not have any monetary value at all. But whatever we treasure holds our attention and our life tends to revolve around it.
The heart in the passage is obviously not about the physical organ that pumps oxygenated blood throughout the body.
This heart is the center of the personality, center of emotion, feeling and affection. One's spirit, courage, or enthusiasm is referred to as heart.
So, back to the reason for the title of the novel. Strings play a part in shaping each character's life. Not physical strings,
but emotional bonds leading to the focus of each life. Those strings lead straight to what each character treasures.
Heart Strings is a mystery, written for entertainment. But while reading, look for the strings that bind each character's heart.

Heart Strings asks how often we jump to conclusions about someone's motives and asks us to forgive as Jesus forgave.

Small Town America
I’m from a small town and always looking for another berg. Small populations pretty much make it impossible to keep secrets behind locked doors,
since the doors are rarely locked.
This week, I read about Tangier, Virginia. Anyone new to this town will have a hard time blending in. Besides the small population
– 727 according to the 2010 census—all the permanent residents have retained a unique accent.
Linguists say the dialect isn’t likely to be heard in any other place in the United States. They say it is possibly a blend of an “American” accent
and old British twang. Some suspect the Founding Fathers and early settlers of America spoke similarly.
"Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine,
according to his power that is at work within us,"
Ephesians 3:20 NIV
P.S. - a confession
I couldn't wait to put the ornaments on the tree. They were on two days before my Thanksgiving dinner.
